P0520 JEEP Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit - The oil pressure sensor is a silicon based sensing unit that measures the pressure of the engine oil. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) supplies a 5 volt reference and a ground to the sensor.
The input to the PCM occurs on the signal return circuit. The oil pressure sensor is a linear sensor, as pressure changes, voltage changes proportionately and returns a voltage signal to the PCM that oil pressure. Zero pressure is 0.5 volt and full scale is 4.5 volt.
1. Run and save a vehicle scan report.
2. Clear fault codes.
3. With the ignition on and engine off, navigate to oil pressure sensor voltage in the PCM data tab.
Is the voltage above 0.50 volts?
YES, replace oil pressure sensor.
NO, replace oil pressure sensor.
Note: Devective sensor reading with the engine off
Note: New sensor reading with the engine off.
Repair is complete.
