When monitored B1B0F code - With the ignition on. Set condition, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) monitors the resistance of the passanger squib 2 circuits. The ORC will set this DTC if it detects low resistance between the passanger squib 2 circuits.
Possible causes:
- Passanger squib 2 line 1 circuit shorted to the Passanger squib 2 line 2.
- Passanger Airbag.
- Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC or Airbag Module).
Step by step diagnostic DTC B1B0F-Passanger Airbag squib 2 circuit shorted together
Step 1. Determine active or stored DTC
Note : Make sure that the battery is fully charged.
Turn the ignition on, with the scan tool read the active ORC DTC.
Select active or stored DTC B1B0F code ?
Active DTC, go to step 2.
Stored DTC, go to step 4.
Step 2. Check for short squib circuits in passanger Airbag
Warning : Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12 volts battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
Disconnect the passanger airbag squib connectors.
Note : Check connectors, clean and repair as neccesary.
Connect the SRS load tool kit and SRS load tool jumper to the passanger airbag squib connectors.
Warning : Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12 volt battery and wait two minutes before continuing. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTC.
Does the scan tool display code B1B0F-Passanger Airbag squib 2 circuit shorted together ?
Yes, go to step 3.
No, Warning : Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12 volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
Replace the Passanger Airbag. Perform the Airbag system verification.
Step 3. Check Passanger squib 2 line 1 circuit for a short to passanger squib 2 line 2 circuit
Warning : Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12 volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
Disconnect the SRS load tool kit and SRS load tool jumper from the Passanger Airbag squib connectors, disconnect the ORC connector.
Note : Check connectors, clean and repair as neccesary.
Connect the SRS load tool adaptor to the ORC connector, measure the resistance between the Passanger squib 2 line 1 circuit and the Passanger squib 2 line 2 circuit at the SRS load tool adaptor.
Is the resistance below 10k ohms ?
Yes, repair the Passanger squib 2 line 1 circuit for a short to passanger squib 2 line 2.
No, Warning : If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
Replace the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). Perform the Airbag system verification.
Step 4. Checking stored or intermittent codes
Note : Diagnose and repair all active codes before diagnosing stored.
With the scan tool, record and erase all Airbag system module DTC.
Warning : Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12 volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the related wiring and connectors for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires, and for broken, bent, pushed out, corroded, and contaminated terminals. Repair as neccesary.
Reconnect all disconnected components and harness connectors.
Warning : Turn the ignition on, then reconnect 12 volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
With the scan tool, monitor for active codes while performing the following :
Are any active DTC present ?
Yes, perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
No, no problem found at this time. Erase all codes before returning the vehicle to the customer.
