P0330 Knock Sensor 2 Circuit

P0330 Knock Sensor 2 Circuit - The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects that the knock sensor input voltage is either, above 4.8 volts - less than 0.2 volts when engine speed is above 2000 rpm. When monitored this code the engine speed above 2000 rpm, battery voltage between 7.5 volts and 15.8 volts, barometric pressure is above 75.2 kpa. MIL light illuminate.

P0330 Knock Sensor 2 Circuit

Possible causes:
  • Knock sensor 2 signal circuit shorted to voltage.
  • Knock sensor 2 signal circuit open.
  • Knock sensor 2 return circuit open.
  • Knock sensor 2 signal circuit shorted to the knock sensor return circuit.
  • Knock sensor 2 signal circuit shorted to ground.
  • Knock sensor.
  • Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

Diagnostic test P0330 Knock Sensor 2 Circuit

(Sorry!!! Step 1-3, refer to code P0325)
Step 1. Check for an active DTC
Step 2. Check the knock sensor 2 signal circuit for a short to voltage
Step 3. Check the knock sensor 2 signal circuit for an open/high resistance

Step 4. Check the knock sensor 2 return circuit for an open/high resistance

Measure the resistance of the knock sensor 2 return circuit from the knock sensor harness connector to the PCM harness connector.

Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

Yes, go to step 5.
No, repair the knock sensor 2 return circuit for an open or high resistance.

Step 5. Check for the knock sensor 2 signal circuit shorted to the knock sensor 2 return circuit

Check for continuity between the knock sensor 2 signal circuit and the knock sensor 2 return circuit in the knock sensor harness connector.

Is there continuity between the knock sensor signal circuit and the knock sensor return circuit?

Yes, repair the short between the knock sensor 2 signal circuit and the knock sensor 2 return circuit.
No, go to step 6.

Step 6. Check the knock sensor 2 signal circuit for a short to ground

Check for continuity between ground and the knock sensor 2 signal circuit in the knock sensor harness connector.

Is there continuity between ground and the knock sensor signal circuit?

Yes, go to step 7.
No, repair the knock sensor 2 signal circuit for a short to ground.

Step 7. Knock sensor

Verify that there is good pin to terminal contact at the knock sensor and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connector. If no problems were found in the connectors, replace the knock sensor 1. Reconnect the PCM harness connector. Turn the ignition on, with the scan tool, erase DTC. Test drive or operate the vehicle in accordance with the when monitored and set conditions. With the scan tool, read DTC.

Is the DTC active or pending?

Yes, go to step 8.
No, test complete.
