P0627 Code - The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects that the actual state of the fuel pump control does not match the intended state. This is a non MIL fault.
Possible causes P0627 Code
- Fuel Pump control circuit shorted to voltage
- Fuel Pump control circuit shorted to ground
- Fuel Pump control circuit open/high resistance
- Totally Integrated Power Module
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
Diagnose P0627 Code
Step 1. Active DTC
Attempt to start the engine. If the engine will not start, crank the engine for five seconds.
Using the scan tool read the active DTCs.
Does the scan tool display P0627 FUEL PUMP CONTROL CIRCUIT/OPEN?
Yes, go to step 2.
No, test complete, the condition or condition that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, push out or terminals, and correct pin tension.
Step 2. Check the Fuel Pump control circuit for a short to voltage
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the Totally Integrated Power Module harness connector. Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connector. Turn the ignition on, measure the voltage of the fuel pump control circuit at the TIPM harness connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes, repair the fuel pump control circuit for a short to voltage.
No, go to step 3.
Step 3. Check the fuel pump control circuit for a short to ground
Turn the ignition off, measure the resistance between ground and the fuel pump control circuit at the TIPM harness connector.
Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?
Yes, go to step 4.
No, repair the fuel pump control circuit for a short to ground.
Step 4. Check the fuel pump control circuit for an open/high resistance
Measure the resistance of the fuel pump control circuit betwen the TIPM harness connector and PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes, go to step 5.
No, repair the fuel pump control circuit for an open or high resistance
Step 5. Totally Integrated Power Module
Reconnect the PCM harness connector, connect a jumper wire between ground and fuel pump control circuit at the TIPM harness connector. Turn the ignition on, using the scan tool select view DTCs.
Is the status active for the fuel pump control circuit shorted low DTC?
Yes, replace the TIPM.
No, go to step 6.
Step 6. Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
