P2072 code - This diagnostic runs continuosly when the following conditions are met with the engine on, ambient temperature below 7°C (44.6°F). The PCM determines that the throttle plate is stuck. Throttle plate goes through a de-icing procedure. If the throttle blade still doesn't move fault sets. This is a non MIL fault, the throttle input and vehicle speed are limited.
- Throttle plate frozen
Turn the igntion on.
The PCM tests the throttle body assembly by opening and closing the throttle body plate before starting the engine.
With the scan tool, read DTCs and record the related freeze frame data.
Is the DTC active or pending?
Yes, go to step 2.
No, test complete.
Step 2. Throttle Body assembly inspection
Turn the ignition off, remove the air cleaner assembly from the throttle body. Check for any signs of a foreign material (ice or dirt) on the throttle plate or in bore causing the thottle plate to stick. Inspect for any signs of coking or a foreign material (ice or dirt) on the throttle plate or in the bore causing the throttle to stick. Turn the ignition on and use the scan tool to actuate the throttle plate and check for any sticking.
Were any signs of foreign material or scoring of the throttle plate or bore found?
Yes, clean the throttle blade and bore if possible or replace the throttle body assembly.
No, go to step 3.
Step 3. Throttle Body
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the throttle body harness connector. Check the connector for any corroded, pushed out, spread or damaged terminals.
Were any problems found?
Yes, perform the appropriate rapair.
No, replace the Throttle Body assembly. Perform the Powertrain verification test.
