B1BAA code - While the CAN bus ignition status is ignition run. This DTC will set if the ORC is not configured for Occupant Classification module and the OCM is active on the CAN bus.
Possible causes B1BAA code
- Loss of communication between ORC and TIPM
- Missing CAN bus configuration message
- Corrupt configuration message
- Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC)

Yes, go to step 2.
No, go to step 5.
Does the scan tool display an active: U1414 IMPLAUSIBLE/MISSING ECU NETWORK CONFIGURATION DATA DTC?
Yes, perform the U1414 code diagnostic procedure.
No, go to step 3.
Does the scan tool display an active U1415 code?
Yes, perform the U1415 code diagnostic procedure.
No, go to step 4.
Does the scan tool display an active: U0141 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH IPM (FCM/TIPM)?
Yes, refer to DTC based diagnostics TIPM and perform the U0141 code.
No, go to step 6.
Does the scan tool display an active or stored B1BAA code?
Yes, for active DTC go to step 2.
Yes, for stored go to step 6.
No, perform the Airbag system verification.
Repair, replace the ORC and perform the Airbag system verification.

Step 1. Check for active B1BAA OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE CONFIGURATION MISMATCH
With the scan tool read Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) DTC.Does the scan tool display an active: B1BAA ?
Yes, go to step 2.
No, go to step 5.
Step 2. Checking for corrupt configuration message
With the scan tool read Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) DTCDoes the scan tool display an active: U1414 IMPLAUSIBLE/MISSING ECU NETWORK CONFIGURATION DATA DTC?
Yes, perform the U1414 code diagnostic procedure.
No, go to step 3.
Step 3. Checking for loss of CAN bus configuration message
With the scan tool, read Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) DTC.Does the scan tool display an active U1415 code?
Yes, perform the U1415 code diagnostic procedure.
No, go to step 4.
Step 4. Checking for loss of communication with the TIPM
With the scan tool, read Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) DTC.Does the scan tool display an active: U0141 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH IPM (FCM/TIPM)?
Yes, refer to DTC based diagnostics TIPM and perform the U0141 code.
No, go to step 6.
Step 5. Verifying stored B1BAA Occupant classification module configuration mismatch DTC
With the scan tool record and erase all DTC from the Occupant Restraint Controller. Turn the ignition off and wait 15 seconds then turn the ignition on. Wait one minute, and read active and stored codes.Does the scan tool display an active or stored B1BAA code?
Yes, for active DTC go to step 2.
Yes, for stored go to step 6.
No, perform the Airbag system verification.
Step 6. Replace the ORC
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12 volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidential airbag deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.Repair, replace the ORC and perform the Airbag system verification.
